The refurbished Apple products carry the SAME warranty as a NEW Apple product and you can even buy AppleCare as if it were new. When apple refurbishes stuff, they put in a new batter and replace anything that might even hint at causing a problem. You might end up with something *better* than new. Stick with the ipod, it's both mac and windows compatible and you won't end up being stuck with something that will only work on *one machine* -- like the Zune.
