Kirsty H asked:

I need some help with my new ipod nano chromatic. The instructions are very brief. When i have disconnected the ipod from the computer it still reads on the ipod screen that it is connected and will not turn on. It did turn on when i unpacked it but i knew it needed charge so connected it to the computer to charge and to put songs on it…which i dont know was successful because it wont turn on! I’ve never had an ipod before so any help will be appreciated!

    I got a nano chromatic too :)
it sounds like you might have the screen lock on. flick the switch at the top and it should work.
or you might need to press the eject button in itunes before disconnecting it.
or it might just have frozen. in which case you need to press and hold the menu and centre button at the same time untill the screen changes to black with an apple on it, after that happens it will stay like that for a few seconds then reset, and should work.
    hope this helps!

check that its not locked on the slider – it should be on GREEN not red!

reset it (menu and centre button till scrren goes blank).
    then also check..

Make sure you have a full power USB connection (many laptops and keyboard connectors only give 100mA max rather than the full 500mA, also do not connect via an unpowered hub either.

connect it direct to the computer on a full power USB port or via a powered hub (mains transformer connected to it) and it should be OK.

make sure you have the latest itunes 8.0.2
and reset the ipod before connection (menu and centre key till screen blanks then connect once it lights up).
