How does the mousepad thing on a laptop work? or an iPod’s scroll wheel thing?

I’ve narrowed it down, because it doesn’t detect heat (a very cold hand, or a warm, even moist soft eraser wont work)

it doesn’t detect capacitance from thing, because a finger through a piece of clothing will work.

it doesn’t detect pressure, obviously

it doesn’t detect pressure distribution, like a soft eraser…

its one of life’s greatest damn mysteries…lol

Actually, it is capacitance. It can just recognize it through some porous clothing. They actually have iPod gloves that have contacts on the fingers so iPods can work.
