The first Apple “i” product was the iMac, which came out 10 years ago this month (in a choice of flavours). It stood then for “internet” because it signified that all new Macs would offer built-in internet connectivity. A great marketing move, as it turned out.

I really hate the way that other companies all jumped on the bandwagon – even the BBC, which uses “iPlayer” for its online media playback. Can’t they think of anything original after 10 years?
