dinkomx asked:

I just got a 2009 BMW 125i (Series 1 Coupe) it has a USB connection and when I connect my iPod some songs appear on the display but the files (on the radio display) are all messed up, songs missing, no playlists, etc. The instructions manual that came with the car is useless, the dealer is even more useless. I can’t find info anywhere. How to arrange or name playlists on the iPod, how to figure out the radio display and the buttons, etc? Anyone know anything about it?

Powerful Yoga for Health

Meditating involves sitting still for a period of time maybe 10 minutes, or maybe 100 minutes. The increased flexibility that yoga brings helps the body to remain comfortable during this physical inactivity. I remember very well being on retreat, and noticing that I had more energy available to me in my meditation practice after doing yoga. Maybe it’s something as simple as endorphin release, or maybe it’s something more mysterious I don’t know and don’t really need to know. What I found in my experience was that in the meditation, in which normally I would be struggling to keep my body upright and in which my brain would tend to “go on standby” I was suddenly wide awake if I did yoga just beforehand.

More than that, I noticed that I felt full of life, as if I was plugged into the mains electricity. Those late afternoon meditations were certainly more productive than they used to be. Awareness of the body is said to be the first “foundation” of mindfulness. Mindfulness can’t exist in the abstract we have to have something to be mindful of. And it’s hard to be aware of what the more subtle elements of our experience are doing if we aren’t aware of what relatively substantial parts of our experience are doing. Yoga helps us to be more aware of the body, which helps with the overall process of developing mindfulness. That brings me onto the fourth benefit that I noticed.

Yoga helps to promote a deeper awareness of the body and of its muscles and joints. This has a grounding effect, helping to calm the mind, which in turn slows down our emotions so that we feel more relaxed. At the end of a session of yoga, I’d notice a definite emotional buoyancy accompanied by mental clarity and calmness.

All this makes me think I should get to yoga classes more often. And I want to encourage you to do the same, so I asked my friend and colleague if he’d contribute some basic instruction in yoga. You’ll find his advice on the following pages, and you might be interested also in his Body Wisdom CD, which leads you through the asanas that are illustrated here. iPod Workouts - A Trainer You Can Take Anywhere

Galadriel Anderson asked:

Yesterday I was riding in my truck. I went over a bridge that had some exceptionally quick and repetitive bumps. As I crossed this relatively short bridge and passed an uneventful point in my life something happened that has had me thinking for a full day now. I felt my belly jiggle. And when I looked down, I could sort of see it jiggle from under my shirt. I hated that.

So, what do I do about it? Well, if I want to hop on some sort of bandwagon that may actually have the legs to make it into an actual established activity, I need look no further than in the front pocket of my backpack. What’s in there? Nothing short of a 20 gig powerhouse packed with nothing less than thousands of my favorite songs. Yes, its my well used ipod. I must confess that for the year or so that I’ve owned my ipod, the state of my belly has not improved, but seems to have actually deteriorated. But, that was before I began to hear about a new use for it (aside from bothering friends into listening to a song that will “change their life”).

Ipod workouts are yet another thing that this apple product is doing that no one expected. Obviously, a benefit while working out with your ipod is its mobility and its ability to absorb shocks that cd players can’t. But, the new fad of ipod workouts has taken that at least a step or two further. There have been several workout instructions that are now available to be purchased or downloaded. This is like getting yourself a personal trainer that will walk you through your workouts whenever and wherever your heart desires. Some of these can even come with images that can be displayed on your screen.

The point is that at times one of the biggest obstacles in the way of you and a belly that doesn’t jiggle when going over bridges is knowing what to do during your workout and having the motivation to do so; and both of these may be significally minimized by using an ipod workout.

L. Byer “byerfam” (Miramar, Florida United States)

These are the headphones I have been waiting for all this time. I am very picky…to the point that I could possibly consider myself an audiophile. When I look for headphones, typically I am looking for the best sounding and are not over the head headphones because those for some reason slip off and drive me crazy…not to mention big and bulky. The part of the headphone that is enough to push me over the edge is the wire because some companies use heavy wires, others don’t use enough wire, some get tangled way too easily, and the list goes on. I always loved the idea of wireless headphones, but like all new technology…everything starts off as “a work in progress” with steady improvements. Well here is the end result. The FreePulse is everything I wanted in a headphone. It is lightweight, behind the head, and wireless. I am pretty stunned at the quality of the sound. No it is not the best sounding headphone of all time, but I bet if you listen to these you will rate them in your top 5 because they do sound VERY VERY good. I did notice something about the FreePulse…it follows the old saying “you get out of it what you put into it.” If you use the 128kbps song files, you will hear how bad those files really do sound. We all know 320kbps is the best and sure enough when you play 320 they sound amazing on the FreePulse. I guess you get so use to cheap tinny laptop speakers and other garbage products that 128kbps and 320kbps tend not to sound that different. I am really impressed with this product, and the wireless feature of these phones makes it worth every single penny. I was skeptical as to how they would work from a distance since it says it is running BlueTooth 2.0 and can work 30ft away. Well now that I tried it myself…I believe their advertising. I walked 30ft away around 3 walls and they still worked as if NOTHING was interferring. That is the way a TRUE wireless headphone should operate. I use to have some $100 POS RCA headphones that couldn’t work 5ft away so 30ft to me was just over the top. I am telling you these headphones are really something, and I am not using that enthusiastic about a product. If you have a local Dell shop or kiosk…check that out…I listened to them there. That is how I found out about this product. I gave up actually learning about these headphones because previous versions were duds…the quality was not good…but these definitely are. Great job Logitech…as always…you come through with another truly remarkable product. Between this, my first wireless optical mouse ever produced by logitech, and my wirless joystick…I have never had such a great experience with any other company like Logitech. Kudos!
